Effective Altruism
Giving ideas the stage they deserve
Last year, the Journey team flew to New York to film a series of interviews with key contributors to Effective Altruism ahead of and during their annual summit. Effective Altruism is a philosophical and social movement that uses evidence and careful reasoning to find the most effective ways to help others - evaluating charitable interventions based on cost- effectiveness and scale, aiming to maximise the positive impact of time and money.

The brief was to capture the people, the ideas and the atmosphere of the summit itself, from speaker interviews to the energy of the event floor, with real warmth and intellectual weight rather than a corporate reel.

Over several days on-site, the team filmed interviews with speakers and attendees, along with event footage to capture the atmosphere. This included quick-fire interviews with speakers and attendees, plus separate sit-down conversations with EA figures and CEA's leadership.

The footage became a set of hero videos and short-form content for web and social, giving the ideas discussed at the summit a wider audience beyond the room.
