A passenger has a medical emergency during a commercial flight. How do we get vital information to doctors on the ground, fast.

The Challenge :

95% of all global commercial airlines use MedAire in the event of a medical emergency. MedAire provide remote medical support to inflight medical emergencies all over the world. When a passenger is sick or injured on a flight, cabin crew can contact the MedAire doctors via an audio call over the cockpit radio and receive guidance on how to manage the passenger

The challenge, to reduce the time taken to communicate vital information from the cabin to the MedAire doctors.

The outcome

To answer this unique challenge we worked through a process of ideation, prototyping and user testing. We had to consider limitations like wifi availability, limited cabin light and passenger data privacy.

We designed and built ‘In-Flight’. In-Flight is an app designed to be used by cabin crew to capture vital passenger information quickly and send it directly to MedAire, at 40,000 ft.
