The Value of Designing Faster

Design is getting faster. Most of the conversation about that speed focuses on output: more screens, more pages. That's the wrong measure. Speed is valuable not because it lets us design more, but because it lets us learn more about customers, about what they want, and about where investment will genuinely pay off. It’s less about efficiency, more about insight.

From fragments to the full experience

Digital design used to be fragmented. a landing page and a checkout flow, each designed for the same project, and both designed in isolation. That way of working has changed: teams can now design the full customer experience as a connected whole and test it end to end with real people, rather than testing isolated screens and hoping it all works together.

The value is in the insight

The traditional model was to build it, put it live, watch how people use it, then fix it. Every insight arrived after the money was spent. We don't have to work that way anymore. Real experiences can now reach real users before a pixel is polished or a line of code is written. It's market research before the build, not after it.

The Zara Small Batch Principle

Zara makes a small first run of a new style, watched what actually sells in store and restocks the winners within weeks. It doesn't bet a whole season on a forecast. Customer behaviour tells it what to make, and opinion doesn't.

Experience design can now work the same way. When a client sees an opportunity for something people might want, it can be tested quickly and cheaply before significant investment is committed. This is what our Solve & Evolve methodology is built for, and what's changed is how early that evolution can now happen.

Faster should mean shorter time to value

None of these cost more. Clients invest the same time and budget as they would anywhere else. What changes is the return: validated experiences, more customer insight, and a shorter path to value. If design is faster across the industry, time to value should be shorter too, and your agency should be pushing for it.
